Chef Alec Hatfield

A Madison, Wisconsin native, discovered his passion for food at an early age. He spent his childhood tending to two expansive gardens alongside his mother, where he developed a deep appreciation for fresh ingredients. During harvest season, they spent countless hours in the kitchen, preserving and canning vegetables—a tradition that sparked his love for cooking.

At 16, Alec began his culinary career in local restaurants and hotels, honing his skills and gaining valuable industry experience. After relocating to West Virginia in 2017, he quickly rose through the ranks in renowned kitchens across Beckley and Fayetteville, refining his techniques and leadership abilities.

Since early 2025, Chef Alec has brought  his expertise and passion for elevated cuisine to the Devils Backbone team.
